Maya
Personal Finance Writer
I'm a retired chartered accountant, and I spend a good part of my time now helping people get their money in order — the everyday decisions around credit, debt, budgeting and retirement that I spent a career advising family, friends and clients on.
My aim is to make the fine print usable: not just what a rule is, but what you should actually do about it. Where I use numbers, they come from a provider's own disclosure or an official source like the IRS, and I say when something can't be confirmed.
Away from the writing I'm a mother of two, and my golden retriever Joey supervises most of it. I write under my first name for privacy. When an article leans on a personal experience it's mine and it's flagged as such; otherwise the stories are clearly-labelled examples.
