Matthews
Insurance & Big-Purchase Writer
I spent years working in insurance, and I write about the money decisions people make rarely and can't easily undo: choosing insurance, and the big purchases where one wrong assumption gets expensive. They're the calls I've spent a lot of time getting right, professionally and for my own family.
These are the topics where a confident, oversimplified answer does real harm, so I lay out the trade-offs honestly — what a plan actually covers, what a comparison table leaves out, and the questions to ask before you commit. Figures come from public sources and I flag what can't be confirmed.
I'm a single dad in New York and a full-time dog walker; the writing is what I do around that. I use a pen name for privacy. Personal experiences are mine where I say so; everything else is a clearly-labelled example.
